Berrycast review: $5 a month and no free plan
Berrycast is the plain end of screen recording and it asks you to pay from the start. Our check of berrycast.com on 10 June 2026 recorded Starter at $5 a month, Professional at $12 and Enterprise at $29, with a 14 day trial and no permanent free plan. Those figures are four months old.
The short answer
Buy Berrycast Buy Berrycast Starter if you send short screen recordings most weeks and never edit them. It was $5 a month when we checked berrycast.com on 10 June 2026, which is $60 across a year, and the record-to-share path is the quickest part of the product.
Skip it if you need to trim a recording, annotate it, or hold a free tier through a quiet month. Berrycast has no editing and no permanent free plan. Loom's Starter plan was free on 1 October 2026, and ScreenPal's Solo Deluxe was $4 a month, or $3 billed annually, on 13 June 2026.
Where Berrycast fits
Berrycast fits the person whose recordings are messages rather than content. You capture the screen, you get a link, you paste it into a thread, and the recording is read once and forgotten. Bug reports, client updates and async feedback are what that shape suits.
There is no permanent free plan, which is the first thing to understand about the price. Our 10 June 2026 check recorded a 14 day trial with the option to extend it by another 14 days and no credit card required, so you get up to 28 days before the subscription starts.
Starter was $5 a month on that check, which is $60 across a year. For a tool you open daily that is a small line on a card, and it is the figure that makes Berrycast worth considering at all against recorders with free tiers.
Professional was $12 a month on the same check. The step from Starter is $7 a month, so twelve months of Professional costs $84 more than twelve months of Starter. Our snapshot does not itemise what each tier adds beyond unlimited recording, cloud storage and integrations with Slack, Teams and similar tools, so this page does not claim a feature split it cannot source.
Enterprise was $29 a month, which is $348 across a year, and our check recorded volume discounts for five or more licences without recording their size. The model was recorded as per seat while the rates are quoted per month, so treat $12 as the cost of one Professional licence rather than a team price.
Cheap is not the same as cheapest, and the category has cheaper. ScreenPal Solo Deluxe was $4 a month, or $3 billed annually, verified 13 June 2026, and it includes an editor. Zight Pro was $9.95 a month, verified 11 June 2026, and has a free tier under it. Loom Business was $18 per user a month, verified 1 October 2026, with a free Starter plan below that.
The Berrycast figures here come from 10 June 2026 and have not been checked since, which makes them four months old. The annual discount our check recorded was not sized, so this page gives no annual rate, only the monthly ones. Read the current rate card before you subscribe. The screen recording software category holds the alternatives.
Berrycast pricing
Berrycast publishes three monthly rates and no free tier. The figures below come from our check of berrycast.com on 10 June 2026 and have not been checked since, so confirm them before you subscribe.
| Plan | Price | What it adds |
|---|---|---|
| Free trial | $0 for 14 days | Extendable by another 14 days, no credit card required |
| Starter | $5/mo | Discounted with annual billing, amount not recorded. $60 a year monthly |
| Professional | $12/mo | Discounted with annual billing. $144 a year monthly |
| Enterprise | $29/mo | Volume discounts for 5 or more licences. $348 a year monthly |
There is no usage meter here, so the cost is a tier choice multiplied by licences. Four things set it:
- Which tier you land on. Starter was $5 a month and Professional $12 on our June 2026 check, a difference of $84 across a year.
- How many licences you need. The model was recorded as per seat, so five Professional licences is $60 a month at that rate.
- Whether you qualify for the volume discount, which our check recorded from five licences without recording its size.
- Billing period. An annual discount was recorded with no figure attached, so the monthly rates above are the only ones this page will state.
Berrycast pricing against the screen recording tools
Berrycast is cheap and it is not the cheapest. ScreenPal Solo Deluxe was $4 a month, or $3 billed annually, verified 13 June 2026, and it carries a free plan and an editor. Zight Pro was $9.95 a month, verified 11 June 2026, with a free tier beneath it. Loom Business was $18 per user a month, verified 1 October 2026, which is more than three times Berrycast Starter and buys editing, analytics and a free plan for light users. The Loom date is more recent than the rest, so this is not strictly like for like.
Berrycast billing terms worth knowing
The absence of a free plan is the term that matters most, because it decides what a quiet month costs.
- Free plan
- None. A 14 day trial, extendable to 28 days, with no card required as of 10 June 2026.
- Starter
- $5 per month, which is $60 across a year at the monthly rate.
- Professional
- $12 per month, which is $144 across a year at the monthly rate.
- Starter to Professional
- A step of $7 a month, which is $84 across a year.
- Enterprise
- $29 per month, which is $348 across a year, with volume discounts from five licences.
- Annual billing
- A discount was recorded on 10 June 2026 but not its size, so no annual rate is stated here.
- Check date
- 10 June 2026. Not checked since, so confirm before subscribing.
Berrycast offers three tiers: Starter at $5/month, Professional at $12/month, and Enterprise at $29/month. There is no permanent free plan, but a 14-day free trial is available with the option to extend for another 14 days. Paid plans include unlimited video recording, cloud storage, and integrations with Slack, Teams, and other tools.
If the current rate card differs from the figures above, the rate card is right and this page is behind by four months. Our creator tool cost calculators will set a year of Berrycast against a year of a recorder with a free tier once you have today's numbers.
What Berrycast gives up
You give up editing entirely. There is no trimming, no cutting and no annotation, so a recording with a stumble in it either ships with the stumble or gets recorded again, and anything that needs tidying has to leave for another tool.
You give up the free tier. A month where you record nothing still costs $5 on Starter, and the trial runs for at most 28 days, so there is no way to keep an account alive for occasional use the way a free plan allows.
You give up viewer insight. Analytics and engagement data are thin here, so if the point of recording is to learn who watched and where they stopped, this is not the tool that answers it.
Our earlier assessment recorded complaints about upload reliability and about the app making some machines sluggish. Those are experience reports rather than measurements, and we give them as that, but they are worth testing on your own hardware inside the trial.
You give up the price crown that Berrycast is often given. ScreenPal Solo Deluxe was $4 a month, or $3 billed annually, on our 13 June 2026 check, so the cheapest paid recorder in this category is not this one.
You give up tier clarity. Our 10 June 2026 snapshot records three prices and a shared feature list rather than a per-tier breakdown, so what $12 buys over $5 is a question for the current pricing page and not something this review will assert.
Our pricing evidence is from 10 June 2026 and that is the weakest part of this page. Four months is long enough for a tier to move or for a free plan to appear, so treat these three figures as a starting point to verify.
How Berrycast compares
The three tools below are the ones weighed against Berrycast, and the axis is price against what you can do after the recording stops. Prices are each vendor's own published rates with the date we checked them, and those dates differ. The wider field sits in the screen recording software category.
| Tool | Best for | Price | Where it breaks |
|---|---|---|---|
| Berrycast | Fast, unedited screen messages with a share link | $5/mo Starter, $12/mo Professional (June 2026) | No editing and no permanent free plan |
| ScreenPal | Recording plus editing on a small budget | Free, $4/mo Solo Deluxe ($3 annually) (June 2026) | Dated interface and a 1080p ceiling |
| Zight | Screenshots and short clips in one tool | Free, $9.95/mo Pro (June 2026) | Free tier caps recordings at 15 seconds |
| Loom | Team async video, priced per creator seat | Free Starter, $18/user/mo Business (Oct 2026) | Several times the price of Berrycast Starter |
What to test in the Berrycast trial
Our 10 June 2026 check recorded a 14 day trial, extendable by another 14 days, with no card required. Confirm that first, because the figure is four months old and the trial is the only free access this product offers.
- Check the current trial length, the extension and the tier prices on berrycast.com/pricing. Our figures are from June 2026 and this is the step not to take on trust.
- Time one real recording from pressing record to pasting the link. Speed is the thing Berrycast is bought for, so measure it rather than assume it.
- Record something you would normally tidy up, then try to tidy it. There is no editor, and finding that out during the trial is cheaper than finding it out after.
- Upload from the machine and connection you work on. Reliability complaints exist and the trial is the place to find out whether they apply to you.
- Count your monthly recordings and decide whether $5 a month on Starter earns its place, which is $60 across a year at the June 2026 rate.
- Work out whether anything on Professional at $12 a month matters to you, remembering that the step is $84 across a year and our snapshot does not detail what it adds.
- Price the free tiers against it before you subscribe. ScreenPal was $4 a month, or $3 billed annually, verified 13 June 2026, and the cost calculators will total a year of either.
Berrycast questions buyers ask
How much does Berrycast cost per month?
Berrycast offers three plans: Starter at $5/month, Professional at $12/month, and Enterprise at $29/month. Annual billing provides a discount. The Professional plan adds AI transcription and custom branding. Volume discounts are available for teams purchasing 5 or more licenses.
Does Berrycast have a free plan?
No. Berrycast does not have a permanent free plan. It offers a 14-day free trial that can be extended to 28 days, with no credit card required. After the trial, you need a paid subscription to continue recording and accessing your videos. If you need a free screen recorder, Loom or ScreenPal both offer free tiers.
Who is Berrycast best for?
Berrycast works best for freelancers, small agencies, and remote teams who send frequent quick video messages: bug reports, client updates, async feedback, and internal walkthroughs. It is less suited for creators making polished tutorial content, long-form recordings, or videos that need editing before publishing.
Berrycast vs Loom: which is better?
Loom is the more complete tool: it has a free Starter plan, editing, viewer analytics, comments and AI summaries. Berrycast is cheaper and quicker to share from. Berrycast Starter was $5 a month on our 10 June 2026 check, while Loom's Business seat was $18 per user a month when Loom's pricing was verified on 1 October 2026, with a free Loom tier below that. Choose Berrycast if speed and budget matter most. Choose Loom if you need editing, analytics or a free tier for light use.
What integrations does Berrycast support?
Berrycast integrates with Slack, Microsoft Teams, Gmail, Google Meet, Zoom, Asana, Figma, and Didacte. Videos are shared via links that work anywhere: paste them into any chat, email, or project management tool. There is no native embed widget, but the share links include a video player page.
Is Berrycast good for client walkthroughs?
Yes, for simple walkthroughs. Berrycast lets you record your screen with webcam overlay and share a link instantly. The Professional plan adds password protection and custom branding on the share page. However, you cannot edit the video before sharing: if you need to cut out mistakes or add annotations for client presentations, Loom or Tella are better options.
Can I edit videos in Berrycast?
No. Berrycast does not include any video editing features. You cannot trim, cut, add annotations, or modify recordings after capture. If you need to edit, you must export the video and use a separate tool like Descript or Kapwing. This is the most common complaint from users who switch to Loom or Tella for editing capabilities.
Can teams collaborate in Berrycast?
Teams can share a Berrycast workspace with shared folders and centralized billing. The Enterprise plan adds admin controls for managing team members. However, there are no in-app comments, reactions, or feedback features on videos. Collaboration happens in the external tools where you share your video links.
Is Berrycast worth the money?
At $5 a month on our 10 June 2026 check, Berrycast Starter is worth it if you record often and value instant sharing over editing, which is $60 across a year. Professional at $12 a month is worth it if transcription matters to your workflow. If you record rarely, a recorder with a permanent free tier covers the same ground for nothing, and ScreenPal's Solo Deluxe was cheaper still at $4 a month, or $3 billed annually, when ScreenPal's pricing was verified on 13 June 2026.
Can I cancel Berrycast anytime?
Yes. Berrycast subscriptions can be cancelled anytime. Monthly plans stop at the end of the current billing cycle. Annual plans are not refunded for unused months but will not renew. After cancellation, check whether you can still access and download your existing recordings: some users report losing access to videos after their subscription ends.
