How to use this template
1
Fill the official rules. Complete every field in the rules sections before you announce anything. If a field is blank, the giveaway isn't ready to launch.
2
Check the platform's own policy. Read the current promotion policy for the platform you're running on and copy its required statements into your rules and post.
3
Publish rules where entrants can find them. Host the full rules on a page you control, link it from the post, and put a short summary in the caption.
4
Log the draw and the winner. Record how and when you picked the winner, when you contacted them, and when they claimed the prize. Keep it with your rules.

Official rules: sponsor and eligibility
These fields answer who is running the giveaway and who can enter. Fill them in plain language. Entrants and platforms both read this part first.
Follower count lies; engagement tells the truth. This tracker logs reach, likes, comments, saves, and shares per post so you can calculate engagement rate, spot what works, and double down on the content your audience actually responds to.
Most creator disputes come from vague agreements. This checklist walks every clause that should be nailed down before you sign — scope, usage rights, exclusivity, payment, and approvals — so you avoid scope creep and unpaid work.
Posting on Instagram by instinct is why most accounts stall. This calendar maps every Reel, carousel, and Story to a format, a hook, and a publish time so your grid stays consistent and your reach compounds week over week.
At minimum: the sponsor's name and address, eligibility (age and territory), the entry period with a timezone, how to enter, a no-purchase-necessary statement, the prize and its approximate retail value, the odds, how the winner is picked and notified, the claim deadline, a privacy notice, and the platform release your platform requires.
Do Instagram giveaways need official rules?
+
Instagram's Promotion Guidelines say you're responsible for running the promotion lawfully, including official rules and eligibility requirements. Promotions must include a complete release of Instagram by each entrant and an acknowledgement that Instagram doesn't sponsor, endorse, or administer the promotion.
Can I require a purchase to enter a giveaway?
+
In the US, requiring a purchase for a prize awarded by chance can turn a sweepstakes into an illegal lottery. That's why most giveaways are free to enter and state that no purchase is necessary. YouTube's contest policy also requires contests to be free to enter.
